MY STORY

In November 2013, while recovering from surgery, I discovered adult colouring books as a way to relax. I found the process both calming and therapeutic, and it sparked a love of creating art.

After moving to Vancouver Island in May 2018, I began exploring the beaches in the area. I would spend hours walking along the shoreline, collecting ocean-tumbled pebbles, sea glass and pieces of pottery. There was something incredibly peaceful about listening to the waves while searching for these little treasures.

After several months, I had quite the collection. But what was I going to do with it all?

At the suggestion of my wife, Diane, and my daughter, Colleen, I started turning my beach finds into art. My first pieces were simple creations displayed in shadow-box frames, which I sold through Facebook Marketplace.

Over time, my artwork has evolved into more elaborate, three-dimensional pieces. I now combine ocean-tumbled pebbles and sea glass with driftwood, dried flowers and other natural elements, creating unique pieces that capture the beauty and character of the West Coast.

I eventually opened an Etsy shop, and I've been fortunate to share my one-of-a-kind artwork with customers across Canada, as well as in the United States and Europe.

And that's how Rock On Art by Dmac began.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story and explore my art. I hope my pieces bring you the same sense of calm and joy that I find while creating them.
